6/6 Weekend Guide

It's Friday. You made it. Barely, but you did. Now, if your first urge is to plop on the couch and binge watch season two of Orange is the New Black, I won't stop you. That's a pretty good move and our pick for this week's Friday Jam — at least the opening credits song, "You've Got Time," penned by Regina Spektor.

Even though the show was renewed for a third season, you might want to pace yourself. Savor each episodic morsel, each Taystee dance move, Red staredown, and Chapman sad face. Because, before you know it Sunday night will arrive ready to take you out of your voluntary solitary confinement and back to the daily grind. And while you'll be forever grateful you're not in prison, part of you is gonna wish you could hang out with the ladies of Litchfield on a more permanent basis.

You've Got Time - Regina Spektor

Now, if you're either disinterested in OITNB (smh) or going to implement a more delayed / spaced out gratification plan (i.e. like only getting through 2-4 episodes by Sunday), then that means you have plenty of events to chock off the good ol' to do list this weekend.

Kelly Cup Finals - While our other professional sports teams struggle to win playoff games, the Cincinnati Cyclones have set themselves apart in that regard. Head down to U.S. Bank arena for Game 4 of the Kelly Cup finals. They face off against the Alaska Aces at 7:30pm.

FI:RE - The event is theoretically SOLD OUT, but I heard they're releasing extra tickets this morning. Concert:nova presents a night of fiery, impassioned music by Latin composers. The program includes Manuel de Falla’s one-act chamber ballet, "El Amor Brujo," in its original, 15-instrument format.

Private Lives - (Cincinnati Shakespeare Company): Amanda and Elyot’s first marriage was so vicious it nearly killed them, so imagine their surprise when five years later, each remarried and on their respective honeymoons, they find themselves in adjacent suites. The sparks start flying, and soon reignite a passion too powerful to fight. Noel Coward’s trademark wit sparkles in this urbane comedy about the fine line between love and loathing.

TQL Dodgeball Challenge - This is the fourth annual challenge to raise money for the Dan Beard Council, which will help send underserved kids to camp. The event is held from 12-5pm at Washington Park and includes a not-to-be-missed mascot game at 2pm.

Pops! Orchestral SpectacularFeel the power of the most explosive music ever written as JMR and your Pops provide a heart-pounding all-orchestral experience. And there'll be post-concert fireworks.

Concours d'Elegance - The Ault Park car show is one of our favorite events of the season and this year should be no different. The featured theme is "Art of the Automobile: Great American Design," including 50 years of the mustang, microcars, and the 100th anniversary of the maserati.

Opera in the Park - Head to Washington Park for a free outdoor concert to help kick off the 2014 Cincinnati Opera season.

Who are we kidding? You're already in front of the couch on episode 8. #sickday #nospoilersplease
